Dr. Paul Sedlacek

Paul Sedlacek, DVM

Owner, Head Veterinarian

Areas of Interest: Dr. Paul has a strong interest in avian and exotic animal medicine and surgery, as well as small animal internal medicine and surgery. He has provided services for numerous breeders, kennels, aviaries, and mini zoos.

Organizations and Extracurriculars: Professional organizations include the American Veterinary Medical Association, the NJVMA, Metropolitan NJVMA, Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians.



History: Dr. Paul graduated from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He had previously earned an early admission to that program after only two years of undergraduate studies, also at MSU.

Following graduation, Paul was employed by Benson Animal Hospitals of Lansing, Michigan, a group of 5 privately owned veterinary clinics. After only six months in this practice, Dr. Sedlacek was promoted to manager of one of these hospitals.

He then returned to NJ in 1987 where he was hired at Animal Clinic of Morris Plains, then owned by Dr. Albert Singer. Interestingly, Dr. Paul had worked as a kennel worker and technician at ACMP prior to vet school.

Following a prearranged transitional period with Dr. Singer, Dr. Paul became the owner of the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains in 1988.


Family: Paul and his wife Christine have five children, two grandchildren, two dogs, four cats, and many fish.


When he's not at ACMP: Dr. Paul enjoys tennis, basketball, traveling, scuba diving, and hiking.


Trivia: Dr. Paul is a self-proclaimed Trekkie.



Dr. Joseph Powell

Joseph Powell, VMD

Cares for: Dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, reptiles, amphibians.


Areas of Interest: His special interests include ultrasound examination, exotic and reptile medicine and surgery.


Organizations and Extracurriculars: AVMA, AAHA and New Jersey VMA.


History: Dr. Joe was awarded a fellowship, attended the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with a Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris degree in 1982.

He graduated from Cornell University in 1978, with a B.S. degree in Animal Science, and was employed in a small animal practice and Emergency veterinary medicine since 1982.

Dr. Powell has been an associate at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains since 1998.


Family: Maureen, his wife, and three sons Michael, Robert and Charles. The family cares for several beloved pets.


When he's not at ACMP: Active in his community, Dr. Joe has been a leader in both Cub and Boy Scouting. He has coached Little League baseball and CYO basketball. His hobbies include camping, sailing and Tai Chi.



Dr. Tracy Robinson with Brody

Tracy Robinson, DVM

Cares for: Dogs, Cats, and Pocket Pets.


History: Originally a New Jersey native, Dr. Tracy attended veterinary school at Oklahoma State University, receiving a D.V.M. in 1999. After graduating veterinary school, she worked in Pueblo, Colorado, in a mixed animal practice, attending to both large and small animals.

She also received a B.A. at Franklin & Marshall College in 1992.

Ultimately, she decided to return to New Jersey to practice in a strictly small animal practice. She started working at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains in August of 2002.


When she's not at ACMP: Dr. Tracy enjoys baking, gardening, and hiking with her chocolate lab, “Brody”.



Dr. Kamlesh Rathore

Kamlesh Rathore, BVSc

History: Dr. Rathore attended the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science in India and graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry with honors in veterinary surgery, medicine, pathology and clinics in 1999. During summer breaks, she volunteered in wellness vaccination programs in mixed animal poly clinics in India. She came to the USA just after graduating in 1999 and worked in an emergency veterinary hospital in NJ, PSPCA and other general practices while completing ECFVG certification, NBVME and NJ State Licenses. In 2003, she completed her one year post graduate clinical evaluation as visiting DVM at Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. Since 2003, she has practiced as an associate veterinarian in small animal practices in Fanwood, NJ and West Caldwell, NJ. She has been with Animal Clinic of Morris Plains since August, 2007.


Organizations and Extracurriculars: AVMA, MNJVMA and NJVMA.


Family: Her husband Jay, and her 2 children.


When she's not at ACMP: She enjoys yoga, music, dance and travel.



Dr. Benjamin Spitz

Benjamin Spitz, VMD

Areas of Interest: Dr. Spitz's veterinary interests include wellness and preventative medicine, endocrinology and oncology.


History: Dr. Ben is a native New Yorker who has successfully made the jump to suburban living. He graduated Dartmouth College in 1991 with a degree in history. He spent the next five years working various jobs and travelling to distant parts of the globe. He eventually returned to veterinary school and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School in 1999.
After graduation, Dr. Spitz completed a 1 year rotating medical and surgical internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City where he worked closely with experts in many different veterinary specialties. He spent the next eight years practicing at small animal hospitals in Manhattan and Essex County.


Family: Wife Stephanie, his 2 kids Sam and Jordan, and his dogs Roxanne and Jeff.


When he's not at ACMP: In his spare time he enjoys most sports, reading anything from classic literature to junk novels and spending time with his family.



Dr. Sarah Marpet

Sarah Marpet, BVM&S, MRCVS

History: Dr. Marpet received her veterinarian degree from the prestigious University of Edinburgh in Scotland. But in her heart, she is a Jersey girl, having grown up on a farm in Chester, NJ.

Dr. Marpet's love of animals is a result of that idyllic childhood farm experience, living in close proximity to animals such as chickens and cows. She brings substantial experience, especially in caring for exotic pets such as birds, lizards, snakes and pocket pets, in addition to dogs and cats.


Family: Husband Brian, who is also a veterinarian.


When she's not at ACMP: Dr. Marpet enjoys show jumping.





Dr. Allison Sommerkorn

Allison Sommerkorn, DVM

Areas of Interest: Dr. Sommerkorn's veterinary interests include surgery, endocrinology, and rehabilitation medicine.


History: Dr. Sommerkorn received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers Univeristy and her veterinarian degree from the University of Illinois.

She grew up in NJ, played basketball for Dr. (Coach) Sedlacek with the Rockaway Township Rockets.

Dr. Alli always loved animals and was inspired to become a veterinarian by her mother, who did shelter work for many years.

Family (Pets): Rugby, Champ, Maddie, Stahl, Kitty, and Hedgie.


When she's not at ACMP: Dr. Alli enjoys playing sports, especially basketball and skiing. She loves cooking, painting, shopping and hiking with her dog.
